ACB Busts Surajpur SDO Taking Bribe; Seizes Assets Worth Crores

Surajpur, Chhattisgarh: In a major crackdown, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested SDO Rishikant Tiwari, posted in Premnagar block of Surajpur district, for allegedly taking a bribe of ₹15,000. The ACB team conducted a raid at his residence, uncovering immense wealth including cash, fixed deposits, jewelry, and property documents. The SDO was presented before the court on Thursday.

Bribe Complaint Leads to Arrest

The case came to light when Digambar Singh, a resident of Nawapara Khurd, lodged a complaint with the Sarguja ACB. Singh had undertaken the construction of a pond under the Prime Minister Matsya Sampada Yojana on his private land, for which approval worth ₹1.82 lakh was sanctioned in June. The valuation and report were to be conducted by the RES Department, but SDO Rishikant demanded ₹15,000 as bribe to process the report. Following the complaint, the ACB planned and executed his arrest.

Assets Seized

During the search of SDO Tiwari’s Ambikapur residence, the ACB recovered:

  • ₹2.27 lakh in cash
  • Fixed deposits exceeding ₹52 lakh
  • Jewelry and precious metals
  • Property documents, bank statements, and insurance papers

ACB DSP Pramod Kumar Khess stated that the SDO had amassed the wealth through illicit means and a detailed investigation of the assets is underway.
