New Delhi: Senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Atishi has denied making any derogatory remarks against Sikh Gurus and described the privilege breach notice issued against her as vague and baseless. She stated that she never referred to the matter in the Delhi Assembly.
Demand for Complete Records
In a letter sent to the Delhi Assembly Secretary on Monday, Atishi requested access to all documents related to the notice, including the complaint, certified unaudited video recordings, and other evidence. She also pointed out that she received no communication from the Speaker to appear and clarify her position. Atishi criticized the notice for using ambiguous terms such as “disrupting House proceedings” without specifying what she allegedly said, in what context, or why it was considered objectionable.
Concerns Over Law and Order
Atishi also wrote to Union Home Minister Amit Shah demanding immediate intervention regarding the deteriorating law and order situation in Delhi. She highlighted that recent months have seen serious criminal incidents that have instilled fear and insecurity among citizens, especially women, senior citizens, and business owners.
Assembly Speaker Seeks Apology
Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta released the forensic science laboratory report linked to Atishi’s video, confirming that there was no tampering or derogatory content. The Speaker has reportedly asked the former Chief Minister and AAP leader Atishi to issue an apology for the misunderstanding.
This incident underscores ongoing tensions within the Delhi Assembly and highlights concerns regarding both legislative procedures and public safety in the capital.
