December has once again turned out to be a difficult month for well-known YouTuber and online influencer Anurag Dwivedi, as he finds himself at the center of serious legal and investigative action. After receiving alleged death threats from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang last year, Dwivedi is now facing a major crackdown by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with an alleged illegal online betting and money laundering case.
The ED has conducted simultaneous raids at nine locations linked to Dwivedi, including premises in Unnao and Lucknow, as well as the residence of one of his relatives in Nawabganj. The searches were carried out under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) and are linked to an FIR registered by the West Bengal Police for cheating, forgery, and illegal betting activities.
Luxury Cars, Documents Seized
According to ED officials, four luxury cars have been seized during the raids. In addition, investigators have taken custody of important documents and digital evidence, which allegedly point towards the laundering of money earned from illegal online betting. Preliminary findings suggest that the funds may have been routed through hawala channels and invested in real estate projects in Dubai.
While the agency has not yet released an official statement detailing the seizures or conclusions, sources indicate that the investigation is focused on tracing the origin and movement of funds generated through online gaming and fantasy sports platforms.
Accused Currently in Dubai
ED sources revealed that Anurag Dwivedi is currently residing in Dubai. He has reportedly been summoned multiple times for questioning, but has so far failed to appear before the investigating agency. This has further intensified scrutiny around his financial dealings and overseas connections.
Raids at Ancestral Village
In Unnao district, ED teams searched Dwivedi’s ancestral home in Khajur village under Ajgain police station limits, as well as the residence of his uncle, Nripendra Nath Dwivedi, in Nawabganj. When officials arrived at the village, the house was found locked, following which CRPF personnel were deployed and an extensive search was carried out till late evening.
Officials are reported to have seized bank transaction records, property-related documents, and multiple digital devices from the locations searched.
Past Threat Case Resurfaces
Dwivedi had earlier made headlines on December 23, 2024, after alleging that he had received death threats from members of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. He had publicly accused gangster Rohit Godara of issuing threats and had appealed to the Uttar Pradesh government and police for protection. Although the social media post was later deleted, the police had registered a case and initiated an inquiry.
Questions Over Crores in Earnings
Investigators are now probing whether the crores of rupees allegedly earned through platforms like Dream11 and other online gaming portals were legitimate or linked to an organized illegal betting network. A key focus of the probe is whether these funds were illegally transferred abroad and invested in foreign assets.
Dwivedi has been associated with online gaming and fantasy cricket for the past seven years and has built a massive digital presence, with around 7 million YouTube subscribers and over 2.4 million Instagram followers.
Lifestyle Under Scanner
The YouTuber recently attracted public attention after hosting a grand wedding on a cruise in Dubai on November 22, marrying his Lucknow-based partner. The lavish ceremony reignited debates around his wealth and lifestyle, with questions being raised about the source of his income—soon followed by the ED action.
Known for his passion for high-end automobiles, Dwivedi owns a Lamborghini Urus worth nearly ₹5 crore, along with a BMW Z4 and a Land Rover Defender. The ED has now seized four of his vehicles as part of the ongoing investigation.
As the probe deepens, the case has sparked a wider debate on the regulation of online gaming, fantasy sports earnings, and influencer-driven wealth in India.
