86 New Security Force Camps Established in Bastar in Two Years, Development Reaches 494 Villages: Deputy CM Vijay Sharma Speaks

Raipur, Chhattisgarh: In a major boost to anti-Naxal operations, Chhattisgarh Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma announced that 86 new security force camps have been set up in the last two years across Naxal-affected areas. These camps have helped extend essential development services to 494 villages in the region.

Focus on Tribal and Rural Development
Deputy CM Vijay Sharma, who oversees the Home, Panchayat, and Rural Development departments, highlighted that for the first time since Independence, roads are being constructed to connect settlements of specially backward tribal communities. Under the ‘PM Janman’ initiative, 807 roads are being laid to improve connectivity for remote villages, including those in Durgam Pahadi of Manora block in Jashpur and areas inhabited by Korwa and Baiga communities in Kawardha’s Shambhupipar.

Road Construction in Naxal-Affected Areas
Sharma noted that in Bastar division, 41 roads that had remained incomplete for years have now been finished. He also announced the revival of rural secretariats across the state to address grassroots issues more efficiently.

Housing Initiatives
The Deputy CM claimed that Chhattisgarh leads the country in the speed of house construction under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. Over 33,000 houses have been approved for weaker tribal groups under the PM-Janman scheme, while more than 9,000 homes have been sanctioned in sensitive Naxal-affected areas under the ‘Niyad Nela Nar’ scheme.

Digital Facilities for Villagers
Vijay Sharma emphasized that villagers no longer need to travel outside their villages for banking or financial transactions. Through 6,195 Atal Digital Centers set up in two phases, transactions worth over ₹919 crore have already been processed. This initiative ensures that essential financial services are accessible at the village level, fulfilling promises made during elections.
