A tragic incident occurred on Wednesday morning in DLF 2, Gurugram, where a 58-year-old man lost his life after being hit by a speeding car while cycling. The victim, identified as Amitabh Jain, was reportedly cycling around 7 a.m. when a white Santro car struck him and fled the scene.
Incident Details
Bystanders rushed Amitabh Jain to a private hospital immediately after the accident. Despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries around 9 a.m. Police have confirmed that the incident was captured on CCTV footage, which shows the car hitting Jain and fleeing the area. Authorities have identified the vehicle and are actively searching for the driver.
Victim’s Background
According to family members, Amitabh Jain had moved to Gurugram in 2014 with his wife, who currently serves as a Senior Curator at the Parliament Museum. Amitabh was a regular cyclist along Akashneem Marg, where the fatal accident occurred. He is survived by his 29-year-old son working in London and a 25-year-old daughter residing in Bengaluru.
Police Investigation
Gurugram police, led by officials including Sunil Kumar, are investigating the case. Efforts are underway to locate the car owner and apprehend the suspect. The authorities have urged anyone with additional information to come forward to aid the investigation.
This incident has raised concerns over road safety and reckless driving in the area, prompting calls for stricter monitoring of traffic violations.
