5-Year-Old Falls from Second Floor of Gorakhpur Mall, Critically Injured

Gorakhpur: A shocking accident occurred at Orion Mall in Mohaddipur, Gorakhpur, when a 5-year-old boy fell from the second floor while his mother and aunt were busy making a reel. The child sustained fractures in his hands and legs and was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

According to local sources, Aniket Pandey of Divya Nagar, Khorabar, stated that his wife had gone to the mall with her two sisters, their 5-year-old son Advik, and 3-year-old daughter Sakshi to watch a night show. While his wife and her sisters were taking selfies, Advik was playing nearby. During this time, he fell from either the escalator or a railing—accounts vary—and landed on the floor below.

The child was initially taken to Timanier Hospital, where doctors provided first aid and then referred him to City Hospital for further treatment. Medical examination confirmed fractures in his hands and legs, though no other injuries were reported. The child has since been placed in plaster, and doctors estimate that full recovery will take approximately one month.

The incident has sparked public debate over mall safety standards. Locals have expressed concerns that despite the rise of large shopping complexes, security measures remain inadequate. Some have also criticized the mother for not closely supervising her child. Authorities are expected to review safety protocols to prevent similar accidents in the future.
