Khargone, Madhya Pradesh: Tuesday morning turned into a scene straight out of a movie at Kukdol Government High School when a 5-foot-long venomous cobra was spotted inside the school’s kitchen shed. Students and staff panicked at the sight of the snake, rushing out of classrooms, while villagers quickly gathered outside the school.
Initially, locals attempted traditional methods to drive the cobra away, burning chili to produce smoke and blocking the kitchen gate with bricks. Despite the smoke, the cobra hid beneath the kitchen floor tiles, evading all efforts to coax it out.
Recognizing the seriousness of the situation, teacher Bhurla Solanki contacted snake expert Chhatar Nagraj. Traveling from his home village of Devli, about 5 kilometers away, Nagraj arrived at the school to assess the situation. Carefully inspecting the kitchen shed, he located the cobra beneath the tiles and, using proper safety equipment, captured it without harming anyone or the snake.
The venomous cobra was safely relocated to its natural habitat, bringing relief to students, staff, and villagers. During the rescue, students cheered “Jai Nagraj” and “Jai Bhilat Dev” in celebration of the successful operation. The timely intervention prevented what could have been a serious incident, ensuring the safety of both humans and the snake.
