
Bastar/Raipur: In a major success under the anti-Naxal operations, security forces in Chhattisgarh have achieved another breakthrough. As many as 37 Naxal cadres surrendered in Dantewada on Sunday, dealing a significant blow to the Maoist network in the region. Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said the wave of surrenders reflects that “Bastar is now firmly moving towards peace.”
Surrender Under ‘Puna Narkom’ Initiative
According to officials, 37 Maoists, influenced by the state’s rehabilitation-driven ‘Puna Narkom’ initiative, have abandoned violence and chosen to join the mainstream. CM Sai termed the development not only a step towards personal transformation for the individuals involved but also a strong indication of lasting peace and development returning to Bastar.
Decisive Success Against Maoist Violence
Welcoming the latest round of surrenders, CM Sai said Bastar’s soil is once again witnessing the rise of stability and progress. He credited the success to continuous security operations, coordinated administrative efforts and the government’s emphasis on rehabilitation-focused policies.
487 Neutralised, 1,849 Arrested, 2,250 Surrendered So Far
Officials revealed that across Chhattisgarh, 487 Naxals have been neutralised, over 1,849 arrested, and more than 2,250 have surrendered to date. CM Sai said these figures reflect the people’s growing trust in the government’s policies and the changing face of Bastar.
He added that the rising number of surrenders marks the beginning of a new dawn in the region—one shaped by peace, harmony, brotherhood and sustainable prosperity.
Strengthening of Security Framework in Bastar
The Chief Minister emphasised that coordinated efforts of the police, security forces and district administration have significantly strengthened the security grid in Bastar, enabling effective control over Maoist violence.
He said the latest surrenders demonstrate the evolving environment of trust and confidence in the region.
Full Rehabilitation Support for Surrendered Cadres
CM Sai reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to ensuring complete safety, dignity and rehabilitation for every surrendered cadre under the Surrender & Rehabilitation Policy, including programmes like Puna Narkom and Niyad Nellanar Yojana.
He said these initiatives are playing a vital role in strengthening the social fabric of Bastar and helping individuals emerge from the shadow of violence.
A New Identity for the Region
Expressing optimism, the Chief Minister said the ongoing transformation in Bastar will continue to shape a new identity marked by lasting peace, development, employment, education and social harmony.
He added that the region is on the path to becoming a symbol of stability and inclusive growth.
