45 Years Later, Missing Son Reunited with Mother in Rajasthan Through SIR Verification

Bhilwara, Rajasthan: In a remarkable turn of events during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists, a man missing for 45 years was reunited with his mother and family in Rajasthan. Uday Singh, who had been living nearly 1,300 kilometers away in Chhattisgarh, lost his memory following a road accident decades ago, making it impossible for him to recall his home or family.

The emotional reunion took place in Suraj village, Asind tehsil, when SIR verification revealed Uday’s connection to the village. During the process, he visited the local school to provide documentation, and a teacher noticed inconsistencies that prompted them to alert his family. Initially, recognition was difficult, but Uday recalled personal family memories, and the final confirmation came when his mother, Chunni Devi Rawat, identified old scars on his forehead and chest. Overcome with emotion, she embraced him, exclaiming, “My son has returned!”

The entire village of Suraj, home to around 150 families, erupted in celebration. Uday was welcomed like a groom, riding a horse in a festive procession with drums, DJ music, and jubilant villagers, marking the joyous occasion of his long-awaited return.

This extraordinary story highlights not only the emotional power of family bonds but also the unexpected, positive impacts of administrative initiatives like the SIR voter verification drive.
