22 Students Fall Ill After Mid-Day Meal in Sangareddy, Hospitalized

Sangareddy (Telangana), January 30: At least 22 students fell ill after consuming their mid-day meal at a primary school in Telangana’s Sangareddy district, officials said. The children were immediately admitted to a nearby hospital after complaining of stomach pain and discomfort.

According to police, the students had eaten sambar and rice during lunch on Thursday. Soon afterward, they began experiencing abdominal pain and uneasiness, prompting quick medical attention. Authorities confirmed that all 22 children are stable and are expected to be discharged from the hospital soon.

The incident caused alarm among parents and the local community, with officials closely monitoring the situation. No formal complaints have been filed by the parents so far, and the exact cause of the illness is yet to be determined.

This is not the first incident of its kind in southern India this month. On January 4, more than 33 students fell ill after a mid-day meal at a government middle school near Odakkalpalayam, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu.

Officials in Sangareddy have assured that they are investigating the matter and taking all necessary measures to ensure the safety of the students.
