The year 2026 is poised to be a landmark period for Gautam Buddh Nagar, with a series of major infrastructure and connectivity projects nearing completion. From the launch of India’s largest airport to new roads, bridges, metro connectivity, and advanced surveillance systems, Noida and Greater Noida are set to witness a dramatic transformation that will significantly improve mobility, safety, and quality of life.
India’s Largest Airport Ready at Jewar
One of the most ambitious projects—the Noida International Airport at Jewar—is ready and awaiting inauguration. Built along the Yamuna Expressway, the airport is expected to revolutionize air connectivity not only for western Uttar Pradesh but for the entire northern region of India.
The runway, terminal building, air traffic control tower, taxiways, and other critical infrastructure are complete, and trial runs have already been conducted. The airport is currently awaiting its aerodrome license, after which commercial operations will begin.
New Bridge and Road to Ease Noida–Greater Noida Travel
To improve connectivity between Noida and Greater Noida, a new bridge over the Hindon River near Knowledge Park-3 is expected to be completed by March 2026. Along with this, the road from Sharda Golchakkar to the Hindon bridge is also under construction, offering commuters an alternative and faster route between the two cities.
Officials say the project will significantly reduce travel time and ease congestion on existing routes.
Metro Stations to Be Linked by Skywalk
Commuters will soon get long-awaited relief with the opening of a skywalk connecting Sector-51 and Sector-52 metro stations. Since the launch of the Aqua Line Metro in 2018, passengers have struggled to move between the two stations.
Constructed at a cost of ₹40 crore, the skywalk is expected to become operational in January itself, making metro travel seamless and more convenient.
2,700 CCTV Cameras for a Safer Greater Noida
Under the Safe City and Intelligent Traffic Management Project, Greater Noida will see the installation of over 2,700 CCTV cameras starting March 2026. Cameras will be installed at more than 350 locations, including major roundabouts, markets, government offices, and residential sectors.
Authorities claim the project will enhance public safety, improve traffic management, and strengthen real-time surveillance. The entire project is expected to be completed within the year.
Underpass at Gaur Chowk to End Traffic Jams
A major traffic bottleneck in Greater Noida West is set to disappear with the opening of a 700-metre-long, six-lane underpass at Gaur Chowk by May 2026. Built at a cost of ₹92 crore, the underpass will directly connect Greater Noida, Gaur City, and the Delhi–Meerut Expressway.
The project aims to drastically reduce congestion and ensure smoother traffic flow in one of the fastest-growing residential zones.
A New Urban Landscape in 2026
With these large-scale developments, 2026 is expected to reshape the urban landscape of Noida and Greater Noida. Improved air connectivity, faster road networks, enhanced metro access, and robust surveillance infrastructure will not only ease daily life for residents but also strengthen the region’s position as a major economic and urban hub.
Officials believe these projects will accelerate growth, attract investment, and set new benchmarks for planned urban development in Uttar Pradesh.
