1. KGMU Lucknow Incident: Doctors Give Ultimatum Over FIR, Threaten OPD Closure

Lucknow, January 12, 2026: Doctors, teaching staff, and employees at King George’s Medical University (KGMU) in Lucknow have expressed outrage following an incident of misconduct and vandalism involving female officials at the university.

The incident occurred on January 9, when around 100–150 supporters of Aparna Yadav allegedly created chaos inside the KGMU campus. Reports suggest that the university’s Vice-Chancellor, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, members of the Vishakha Committee, and female members of the Proctorial Board were subjected to verbal abuse, and property was damaged.

Despite the administration filing a complaint at Chowk Police Station through the Proctor on the day of the incident, no FIR has been registered even after 72 hours. Citing this delay as a serious lapse in justice and security, the Joint Committee of doctors, residents, nurses, and staff has given police a 24-hour ultimatum and threatened to suspend OPD services if no FIR is filed.

ASP Jayraj Kuber confirmed that the matter is under investigation. The committee has called a meeting on January 13 to determine further strategy, warning that thousands of patients could be affected if OPD services are suspended.

2. Tej Pratap Yadav Sparks Stir Over Invitation Controversy

Patna, January 12, 2026: Bihar politician Tej Pratap Yadav, the elder son of Lalu Prasad Yadav, has once again grabbed headlines, this time over his “chura-dahi” (flattened rice and curd) feast invitations. The politician is inviting leaders across the political spectrum, including NDA members, to his upcoming event on January 14, marking Makar Sankranti.

During a media interaction, Tej Pratap reacted sharply to questions regarding whether he would invite Nitish Kumar or his brother Tejashwi Yadav, asking reporters why they were “so restless” and asserting that everyone would be invited. His comments have created a buzz in Bihar’s political circles.

The chura-dahi feasts, traditionally associated with Makar Sankranti, have become a platform for political visibility in the state. From Chirag Paswan to leaders of JDU and BJP, several politicians host these events. This year, Tej Pratap is using the feast to maintain the political legacy of his father while staying in the public eye.

3. Bihar Politics: Tej Pratap’s Chura-Dahi Feast Becomes Political Highlight

Tej Pratap Yadav’s active invitation campaign is seen as a strategic political move, keeping the spotlight on the Yadav family. While Lalu Prasad Yadav’s traditional Makar Sankranti feasts are limited this year, Tej Pratap’s event promises to be a high-profile gathering of leaders and supporters, showcasing both cultural tradition and political networking.
