Noida: The long-awaited Bhangel Elevated Road in Noida has been opened to vehicular movement on a trial basis, marking a key milestone in regional connectivity. Engineers conducted detailed inspections to identify and address technical issues before allowing traffic. The six-lane elevated stretch now permits vehicles to travel at a maximum speed of 60 km/h.
Authorities are preparing a comprehensive traffic management plan for entry and exit points on the elevated corridor, which will soon be shared with the police department. Plans are also underway to install CCTV cameras along the route. Additionally, noise barriers will be placed on both sides to ensure that nearby residents are not disturbed by traffic sound.
Smoother Travel Between Noida, Greater Noida and Surajpur
The opening of the elevated road on the DSC (Dadri–Surajpur–Chhalera) route is set to significantly ease travel for commuters heading towards Greater Noida and Surajpur. Currently, traffic volume is low as many residents are still unaware of the opening, but the route is expected to become a preferred alternative for vehicles coming from the expressway. This shift will help reduce congestion on the expressway.
To enhance road safety and traffic flow, the culvert near the descent point from Agahpur to Sector-82 will be widened. The irrigation department has been assigned this task with an estimated cost of ₹5 crore.
Project Details and Future Connectivity Plans
A senior Noida Authority official said that under the instructions of CEO Dr. Lokesh M, the 4.5-km elevated road has been opened for trial while technical assessments continue. The project, constructed at a cost of approximately ₹608.08 crore, had faced delays around July 2023 but was eventually completed.
The Authority has proposed constructing two loops each on both sides of the Sector 49–107 intersection to improve connectivity.
- A loop near the Hanuman statue will serve traffic coming from Sector 37 toward the Seven X sectors.
- Another loop will facilitate vehicles traveling from the Seven X sectors, Phase 2, and Surajpur.
- Additional loops will be built for climbing up and descending toward Sector 107.
These loops are expected to significantly boost accessibility, linking the elevated corridor seamlessly with adjoining sectors, ensuring smoother traffic flow and easier commutes across Noida.
