While India Suffers Defeat in Ahmedabad, Mohammad Amir Laughs Boldly on Pakistani Show

New Delhi: India faced a humiliating 76-run defeat to South Africa in their Super-8 T20 World Cup 2026 match at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. Former Pakistani fast bowler Mohammad Amir has been in the spotlight recently for his outspoken remarks about the Indian team.

Amir’s Bold Predictions Come True

On a Pakistani sports show, Amir had previously labelled Indian batter Abhishek Sharma as a “slogger,” noting his struggles at the crease—a prediction that seemed to hold true as Sharma continued to struggle in the tournament. Amir also predicted that India would not reach the semifinals, a forecast that now seems to be coming true after India’s loss in the Super-8 opener.

Called an “Astrologer,” Amir Laughs Unapologetically

During the show, the host jokingly introduced Amir as an “astrologer” predicting India’s future. Amir responded with a bold laugh, saying, “What have you made of me? May Allah forgive me.” His reaction reflected confidence that his earlier prediction was coming to fruition.

Amir also hinted that before commenting on India, he should consider his own team, which narrowly reached the Super-8 stage and now faces a difficult path to the semifinals after losing their opening match.

Match Recap

In Ahmedabad, South Africa won the toss and chose to bat first, scoring 187/7 in 20 overs. India’s chase collapsed, with the team bowled out for 111, giving South Africa a dominant 76-run victory. While India’s route to the semifinals has become challenging, it is not impossible. India must win their remaining matches against Zimbabwe and West Indies to keep their hopes alive.
