By Deepesh Sharma | New Delhi: Indian cricket star Smriti Mandhana has made her first public appearance on social media following the postponement of her wedding to musician Palash Muchhal. Mandhana was featured in a promotional video for a toothpaste brand, which quickly caught the attention of fans — many noticed that her engagement ring was missing. It remains unclear whether the video was shot before or after the engagement.
Wedding Postponed Amid Family Health Concerns
The couple’s wedding was originally scheduled for November 23, 2025, in Sangli. On the day of the wedding, Smriti Mandhana’s father fell seriously ill and was hospitalized, prompting the families to indefinitely postpone the ceremony. Compounding the situation, Palash Muchhal also faced severe stress and was hospitalized. Considering the circumstances, both families jointly decided to delay the wedding.
Engagement Ring Missing, Speculations Rise
Speculation online increased as fans noted changes in the couple’s social media activity. Smriti reportedly removed wedding-related posts, while some of her teammates reportedly unfollowed or removed tags related to Palash. Recently, both Smriti and Palash updated their Instagram bios with an eye emoji, which may hint at a response to circulating rumors. The absence of the engagement ring in her latest video has further fueled public discussion.
Family Confirms No New Dates Yet
Smriti’s brother, Shravan Mandhana, clarified that there is no rescheduled wedding date. Both families have requested privacy during this challenging period. Palash’s sister also acknowledged publicly that the families are under significant pressure.
Support from Fellow Cricketers
Showing solidarity, fellow cricketer Jemima Rodrigues opted to stay in India rather than participate in the Women’s Big Bash League, supporting Smriti during this period. Mandhana is expected to return to cricket for a five-match T20I series against Sri Lanka from December 21 to 30, 2025.
