Virat Kohli Eyes Historic Record Against New Zealand: Could Surpass Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Rohit Sharma, and Ajinkya Rahane

Indian cricket superstar Virat Kohli is in sensational form and is on the verge of creating a new milestone in One-Day Internationals (ODIs). In the second ODI against New Zealand on Wednesday in Rajkot, Kohli has the chance to become the first Indian player to score 50 or more in six consecutive ODIs, surpassing legends such as Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Rohit Sharma, and Ajinkya Rahane.

Kohli in Red-Hot Form
Kohli’s excellent form has been evident in recent matches. He began this streak in the last ODI against Australia in Sydney, and continued it in the first ODI against New Zealand in Vadodara, scoring a brilliant 93 runs off 91 balls, which included 8 fours and 1 six, at a strike rate above 100.

Matching the Greats
With five consecutive 50+ scores in ODIs, Kohli has already equaled the record held by Tendulkar, Dravid, Rohit Sharma, and Rahane. A fifty in Rajkot would make him the first Indian to achieve six consecutive 50+ scores in ODIs.

International Comparison
On the global stage, Pakistan’s Javed Miandad leads with nine consecutive 50+ scores, followed by Imam-ul-Haq with seven. Players like Kane Williamson, Shai Hope, Babar Azam, Paul Stirling, Ross Taylor, and Chris Gayle have also achieved six consecutive 50+ scores in ODIs.

Dominant Batting Across Formats
In the last five ODIs, Kohli has amassed 469 runs at an astonishing average of 156.33, including 2 centuries and 3 fifties. Including two recent innings for Delhi in the Vijay Hazare Trophy (131 and 77), he has recorded seven consecutive 50+ scores in List A cricket, accumulating 677 runs at an average of 135.4, with 3 centuries and 4 fifties.

Kohli’s red-hot form, combined with this upcoming opportunity against New Zealand, puts him on the brink of a historic record and reinforces his standing as one of the greatest ODI batsmen of all time.
