Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26: Yashasvi Jaiswal Struggles Again, Scores Only 64 Runs in Three Innings

Jaipur: Young Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal continues to struggle with the bat in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26. On Tuesday, he managed just 15 runs against Himachal Pradesh, extending his poor run in the tournament. Over three innings so far, Jaiswal has scored a mere 64 runs, raising concerns ahead of India’s upcoming series against New Zealand.

Short Innings Despite Hopes for a Fast Start
The Mumbai-Himachal Pradesh match at the Jaipuria School Ground started with a delay of over two hours due to heavy fog. Mumbai had hoped for a blazing start from Jaiswal, who opened the innings with a new partner. However, after hitting two boundaries in his 18-ball knock, he was caught by Inesh Mahajan off Vaibhav J. Arora in the fifth over.

Previous Performances in the Tournament
Jaiswal had replaced Rohit Sharma in the Mumbai squad after the first two matches. In his first outing, he scored a slow 46, followed by just 3 runs in his second innings. With 15 runs in this match, his total across three innings remains 64—a performance that could leave the Indian team management worried about his form before the New Zealand series.

Return After Illness
Jaiswal had impressed earlier in the season during the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025-26, scoring a century for Mumbai. However, shortly afterward, he suffered from a stomach illness that required hospitalization. Although he has returned to domestic cricket, his slow starts and low scores suggest he is yet to regain full fitness.

With the New Zealand series approaching, Jaiswal will need to find form quickly to justify his place in the national squad.
