Vidarbha Clinches Spot in Vijay Hazare Trophy Final, Beats Karnataka by 6 Wickets

Vidarbha has stormed into the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26 final after a commanding 6-wicket victory over Karnataka in the first semifinal. Star performances from Darshan Nalkande with the ball and Aman Mokhade with the bat were key to their win, with Mokhade earning the Player of the Match award.

New Delhi: The first semifinal of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26 was played at the Centre of Excellence, Bengaluru, where Vidarbha defeated Karnataka by 6 wickets to become the first team to secure a place in this season’s final.

Karnataka Bat First

Karnataka captain Mayank Agarwal won the toss and elected to bat. The team posted 280 runs in 49.4 overs before being bowled out.

  • Karun Nair top-scored with 76 runs
  • Krishnan Srijit contributed 54 runs
  • Shreyas Gopal scored 36 runs
  • Abhinav Manohar added 26 runs

In response, Vidarbha’s pace spearhead Darshan Nalkande delivered a sensational performance, taking 5 wickets for 48 runs in 10 overs, dismissing Nair, Dhruv Prabhakar, Gopal, Manohar, and Vidhyadhar Patil. Nachiket Bhute and Yash Kadam took 1 wicket each.

Vidarbha Chase with Ease

Under Harsh Dubey’s captaincy, Vidarbha chased down the target in 46.2 overs, thanks to a brilliant century from Aman Mokhade, who scored 138 runs off 122 balls, including 12 fours and 2 sixes. Ravikumar Samarth remained unbeaten on 76 runs (7 fours), while Dhruv Shore contributed 47 runs. Rohit Binker added 11 runs.

Karnataka’s Abhilash Shetty took 3 wickets, and Vidhyadhar Patil picked one.

The Vijay Hazare Trophy final will be played on 18 January, where Vidarbha will face the winner of the Punjab vs Saurashtra semifinal.
