Vaibhav Suryavanshi Smashes 190 in 84 Balls, Takes Revenge for U-19 Asia Cup Loss

Ranchi: After a disappointing U-19 Asia Cup final against Pakistan, 14-year-old prodigy Vaibhav Suryavanshi made a spectacular comeback in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26 Plate Group match. Facing Arunachal Pradesh at Ranchi, Vaibhav unleashed a blistering innings of 190 runs off just 84 balls, including 16 fours and 15 massive sixes, propelling Bihar to 391 for 3 with 11 overs remaining.

Revenge for the Asia Cup Final
Vaibhav’s fiery knock seemed like payback for the humiliating loss against Pakistan in the U-19 Asia Cup final in UAE, where he managed only 26 runs and was involved in a heated altercation with Pakistani bowlers, which went viral online.

Century in Just 36 Balls
Winning the toss, Bihar opted to bat first. Vaibhav dominated from the very first ball, reaching his century in a mere 36 balls. His devastating assault particularly targeted Arunachal pacer Techi Neri, against whom Vaibhav scored 45 runs off 16 balls, including 5 sixes. His overall strike rate for the innings stood at 226.

He fell just 10 runs short of a double century while attempting another six off Neri, caught by fielder Doria. Alongside Vaibhav, Piyush Kumar Singh contributed 77 runs off 66 balls, and wicketkeeper Ayush Loharuka remained unbeaten at 82 off 45 balls with 5 sixes and 8 fours. Bihar’s score of 391 for 3 is on course to set a new record in the tournament.

U-19 Asia Cup Final Controversy
Vaibhav had made headlines earlier in the U-19 Asia Cup, scoring 171 runs in his first match but failing in the final. Pakistan scored 347 for 8, raising expectations for a strong performance from Vaibhav. However, his early dismissal at 26 led to a confrontation with a Pakistani bowler, where Vaibhav reportedly gestured with his shoe’s tip. The gesture sparked loud jeering from Pakistani fans, both inside and outside the ICC Cricket Academy Stadium in Dubai.

Pakistan Cricket Board Reacts
The incident drew criticism from Pakistan’s side. Former Pakistan captain and U-19 mentor Sarfaraz Ahmed reportedly made pointed remarks about Indian fans’ behavior, and PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi described the gesture as provocative, stating they would file a complaint with the ICC.

Vaibhav’s spectacular innings in Ranchi proves his resilience and talent, signaling a promising future for the young Indian cricketer, even after international controversy.
