Usman Khawaja’s Final Test Mirrors Virat Kohli’s Career Finale: Striking Similarities Stun Fans

New Delhi: Australian batting star Usman Khawaja bid farewell to international cricket with his last Test match against England at the Sydney Cricket Ground—the same venue where Virat Kohli played his final Test. Remarkably, the scores in both players’ last matches show a striking similarity.

First and Second Innings Parallels
In the first innings of his final Test, Khawaja, a left-handed batsman, scored 17 runs, identical to Kohli’s first innings score at the SCG. In the second innings, Khawaja managed 6 runs, mirroring Kohli’s second-innings contribution. These uncanny parallels have cricket fans and analysts buzzing about the symmetry in their career finales.

Khawaja’s Career Highlights
Born in Pakistan, Khawaja moved to Australia with his family as a child. He made his Test debut for Australia in 2011 and went on to play 88 Test matches, amassing 6,229 runs at an average of 42.95, including 16 centuries and 28 fifties. His highest Test score was 232 runs.

Khawaja also played 40 ODIs and T20 Internationals, scoring 1,554 runs in ODIs, including two centuries, both of which came against India in India.

Sydney Test and Ashes Triumph
Australia recently defeated England 4-1 in the Ashes series, with the final Test at Sydney ending in a 5-wicket victory for the hosts. England posted 384 in the first innings, to which Australia responded with 567 runs. England managed 342 in the second innings, while Australia chased down the target with 161/5 in 32 overs to seal the series.

Khawaja’s elegant technique, resilience, and key contributions have left a lasting legacy in Australian cricket, making his career finale a historic mirror of one of India’s finest, Virat Kohli.
