
UP Warriors secured their first victory of the 2026 Women’s Premier League (WPL) by defeating Mumbai Indians by 7 wickets at DY Patil Stadium, Navi Mumbai, on 15 January.
New Delhi: After three consecutive losses, UP Warriors finally opened their account in the WPL 2026 season with a commanding performance against Mumbai Indians in the eighth match of the tournament. This was Mumbai Indians’ second loss in their fourth game of the season.
Mumbai Indians Bat First
UP Warriors captain Meg Lanning won the toss and chose to field first. Mumbai Indians posted 161/5 in their 20 overs.
- Netta Silver Brant starred with an explosive 65 runs, including 9 fours and 1 six.
- Nicola Carey remained unbeaten on 32 runs.
- Amnjot Kaur contributed 38 runs for Mumbai.
- Captain Harmanpreet Kaur struggled, scoring only 16 runs.
UP Warriors’ bowlers shared the wickets, with Shikha Pandey, Deepti Sharma, Sophie Ecclestone, and Asha Sobhna taking 1 wicket each.
UP Warriors Chase with Ease
UP Warriors chased down the target in 18.1 overs to claim a 7-wicket victory. Harleen Deol led the charge with an unbeaten 64 runs off 64 balls, smashing 12 fours at a strike rate of 164.10. Chloe Tryon supported brilliantly, scoring 27 not out off 11 balls, including 4 fours and 1 six at a strike rate of 245.45.
Captain Meg Lanning contributed 25 runs as an opener, while Phoebe Litchfield added 25 runs and Kiran Navgire chipped in with 10 runs. For Mumbai Indians, Netta Silver Brant claimed 2 wickets and Amelia Kerr took 1 wicket.
This win marks a turning point for UP Warriors as they look to build momentum in the 2026 WPL season.
