U19 World Cup 2026 Highlights: West Indies Shock South Africa, Pakistan Ease Past Zimbabwe

Harare: In an exciting turn of events at the U19 World Cup 2026, West Indies stunned South Africa with a 55-run victory, while Pakistan registered a comfortable win over Zimbabwe. Despite the loss, Zimbabwe managed to secure a place in the next round.

West Indies Outshine South Africa
In the 21st match of the tournament, West Indies defeated South Africa by 55 runs. Both teams, along with Afghanistan, had already qualified for the Super-6 stage. Winning the toss, West Indies opted to bat first and were restricted to 234 in 47.5 overs. Zakari Carter starred for the Caribbean side, scoring a brilliant 114 off 104 balls, including 8 sixes and 8 boundaries. Basan was the pick of the bowlers for South Africa, taking 5 wickets for 23 runs, while Jason Rolls claimed 2 wickets.

Chasing 235, South Africa were bundled out for 179 in 37.4 overs. Jason Rolls top-scored with a brisk 46 off 40 balls, hitting 4 fours and 2 sixes, while Lethabo Fahlamohlaka contributed 26 runs. West Indies’ Shaquan Belle was exceptional with the ball, taking 6 wickets for just 40 runs in his 10-over spell.

Pakistan Cruise Past Zimbabwe
Pakistan secured an 8-wicket win against Zimbabwe at the Takashinga Sports Club. Despite losing the toss, Zimbabwe batted first but managed only 128 in 35.5 overs. Opener Nathaniel Halabanga top-scored with 59 runs, including 1 six and 7 boundaries. Ali Raza led Pakistan’s bowling attack with 3 wickets.

Pakistan chased down the target comfortably in 26.2 overs. Samir Minhas remained unbeaten on 74 off 75 balls, hitting 6 fours and 3 sixes, while Panashe Mzai and Michael Blignaut took 1 wicket each.

Ireland Deny Japan a Super-6 Spot
At the Namibia Cricket Ground, Ireland defeated Japan by 4 wickets, securing their place in the Super-6 stage. Japan, on the other hand, missed out on the chance to advance after losing all three of their group matches. Batting first, Japan scored 247 for 9, with Charles Hinje top-scoring with 57 runs and Gabriel Hara Hinje contributing 44 from the ninth position. Ireland successfully chased the target in 48 overs, with Oliver Riley and Adam Lecky picking up 3 wickets each.
