Two Delhi Cricketers Accused of Molesting Minor Girl, DDCA Faces Scrutiny

New Delhi: Two players from Delhi’s Under-23 cricket team have been accused of molesting a minor girl during a match in Puducherry. The incident has raised serious questions about the administration and disciplinary protocols of the Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA).

According to reports by Dainik Jagran, the accused players were shifted from the team hotel to another hotel, indicating that the allegations are being taken seriously. The DDCA has initiated an immediate investigation, causing a stir within the association.

Allegations and DDCA Response
Sources said such incidents damage the dignity of the sport and tarnish the reputation of the institution. However, DDCA Joint Secretary Amit Grover stated that the players were only listening to music and that no concrete evidence of molestation had emerged. He described the matter as one of indiscipline rather than harassment.

The incident occurred while the Delhi team was competing in Group D of the Ranji Trophy. The team’s performance in the tournament has been underwhelming—they have yet to win a match, drawing five and losing one. Their next match is scheduled against Mumbai.

A Test for DDCA
The case poses a significant challenge for the DDCA, which is handling allegations of a very serious nature. The truth will only emerge after the investigation is completed. This episode has reignited discussions within the cricketing community about player conduct and discipline. DDCA has pledged full cooperation with the inquiry, and all eyes will be on the outcome and any subsequent action taken against the players.
