Three Cricketers Who Represented Both India and Pakistan in International Cricket

Amid ongoing tensions between India and Pakistan, particularly following the tragic attack in Pahalgam, cricket encounters between the two nations have often grabbed headlines. Last year, during the Asia Cup, the clash on the field created a stir, and more recently, Pakistan opted out of playing against India in the T20 World Cup.

In the midst of this, we bring you a special story highlighting three rare cricketers who have had the unique distinction of representing both India and Pakistan in international cricket.

1) Amir Elahi
Amir Elahi played a total of six Test matches in his career. He made his debut for India in 1947 in Sydney. Later, between 1952 and 1953, he represented Pakistan in five Test matches. Across domestic and international cricket, Elahi claimed a remarkable total of 520 wickets.

2) Abdul Hafeez Kardar
Known as the “Father of Pakistan Cricket,” Abdul Hafeez Kardar played three Tests for India before representing Pakistan. In 1952, he became the first captain of the Pakistan cricket team, making his debut against India. Kardar went on to play 23 Tests for Pakistan, scoring 927 runs in 26 Tests with the help of five half-centuries. In first-class cricket, he amassed 6,832 runs across 174 matches.

3) Gul Mohammad
Gul Mohammad is another cricketer who played for both India and Pakistan. He represented India in eight Test matches from 1946 to 1955 and later played a single Test for Pakistan against Australia in Karachi in 1956. Across his nine Test matches, he scored 205 runs. In first-class cricket, he accumulated 5,614 runs in 118 matches.

These three players remain unique figures in cricket history, bridging two nations through their remarkable sporting careers.
