T20 World Cup 2026 Opening Ceremony to Light Up Mumbai: Badshah, Nora Fatehi and More Set to Entertain Fans at Wankhede

With less than 24 hours left for the grand start of the T20 World Cup 2026, excitement has reached its peak among cricket fans. Co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka, the tournament will begin with a clash between Pakistan and Netherlands at the Sinhalese Sports Club, Colombo.

On the very first day of the World Cup, India will also begin their campaign, taking on the USA at the iconic Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, from 7 PM onwards. However, before the match begins, Mumbai is set to witness a spectacular opening ceremony that promises a mix of music, energy, and glamour.

Opening Ceremony to Begin at 6 PM

The opening ceremony at Wankhede Stadium will start one hour before the match, at around 6 PM. Only ticket holders for the India vs USA match will be allowed entry for the event.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has officially confirmed the ceremony details through a social media announcement.

Who Will Perform at the Opening Ceremony?

The opening ceremony will feature performances from several popular Indian entertainment stars, including:

  • Badshah – India’s leading rapper and music sensation
  • Nora Fatehi – famous actress and dancer known for her electrifying stage presence
  • Rishabh Rikhiram Sharma – renowned sitar artist who has gained massive popularity on social media
  • Sivamani – legendary percussionist and musician, known for his powerful live performances

The blend of modern rap, dance performances, classical instrumental music and percussion is expected to create an unforgettable atmosphere for fans inside the stadium.

Stadium Gates to Open at 4 PM

The ICC has informed fans that the gates of Wankhede Stadium will open at 4 PM, giving spectators enough time to settle in before the ceremony begins.

Fans have been advised to arrive early to avoid missing the performances and to ensure smooth entry.

Jay Shah and Rohit Sharma to Attend the Event

The ceremony will also see the presence of key cricket personalities. ICC chairman Jay Shah and former Indian captain Rohit Sharma will be present at the venue.

Notably, Rohit Sharma led India to their previous T20 World Cup triumph and has now been appointed as the brand ambassador for the tournament.

Grand Start for a Mega Tournament

With cricket fever already gripping the country, the opening ceremony at Wankhede Stadium is expected to set the perfect tone for the T20 World Cup 2026. As India begin their title defence against the USA, fans will first be treated to a star-studded evening filled with music, entertainment and celebration.
