Nagpur, India: Indian T20 captain Suryakumar Yadav is on the verge of achieving a significant career milestone. Despite a recent dip in form with the bat, Yadav aims to break new records in the upcoming T20 series against New Zealand.
Closing in on 3,000 T20 Runs
Yadav is just 212 runs away from becoming the third Indian player to score 3,000 or more T20 International runs, a feat previously achieved only by Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. To date, he has amassed 2,788 T20 runs and will look to reclaim his form while chasing this milestone in the five-match series.
Approaching 9,000 Career T20 Runs
In addition, Yadav is just 25 runs shy of completing 9,000 runs in T20 cricket overall. If he reaches this landmark, he will become the fourth Indian to do so, joining Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Shikhar Dhawan.
Captaincy Form Remains Impressive
While his batting has struggled recently—scoring only 44 runs in the last four matches—Yadav’s captaincy has been exemplary. Under his leadership, India has never lost a T20 series. His focus now is to regain batting momentum, continue leading the team effectively, and prepare India for major upcoming tournaments, including the 2026 T20 World Cup.
T20 Run Rankings (India):
- Virat Kohli – 13,543 runs
- Rohit Sharma – 12,248 runs
- Shikhar Dhawan – 9,797 runs
- Suryakumar Yadav – 8,975 runs
Suryakumar Yadav’s upcoming performances against New Zealand will be crucial in determining if he can join the elite company of India’s T20 batting greats.
