World Cup-winning Indian women’s cricket team vice-captain Smriti Mandhana is all set to tie the knot with her long-time boyfriend Palash Muchhal, and the wedding is making headlines everywhere. The celebration is blending Maharashtrian traditions with an Indori touch, as Palash’s family, originally from Indore, has traveled to Sangli, Maharashtra, Smriti’s ancestral city, to join the festivities. 1. Venue of the Wedding
The wedding is taking place in Sangli, Maharashtra, the hometown of Smriti’s family. The Haldi and Mehendi ceremonies were held here, and the couple is set to exchange saat phere (seven vows) on 23rd November in the city.

2. Grand Welcome of the Groom
Groom Palash Muchhal arrived at Smriti’s home ahead of the Haldi ceremony and was welcomed with traditional dhol and nagada beats. Dressed in a kurta-pajama, he was greeted with a mala exchange and an aarti ritual, symbolizing the customary ceremonial welcome.

3. Indori Touch Brought by Palash’s Family
Around 20 members from Palash’s family traveled from Indore to Sangli, including his grandparents, maternal uncle Vishwas Pandey, and other relatives. They brought traditional Indori items like puja materials and local sweets (Indori gajak) to ensure the wedding retained a strong Indori flavor. Upon arrival, they performed a traditional Mata Poojan.

4. Music Ceremony Preparations
Vishwas Pandey shared that children in the family have been preparing for the music ceremony for several weeks, ensuring the celebrations are lively and memorable. Efforts were made to ensure that the wedding did not miss the Indori cultural essence despite being hosted in Maharashtra.

5. Cricket & Bollywood Excitement
The wedding has seen participation from Smriti’s teammates and friends from cricket as well as the entertainment industry. Their presence has added extra charm and excitement to the festivities, making it a celebration that beautifully blends sports, culture, and family traditions.
