Salman Agha Hails Spinners Ahead of Super 8, Shows Confidence After Namibia Win

Colombo: Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha praised his team’s performance following a comprehensive 102-run victory over Namibia on Wednesday. Highlighting the pivotal role of his spinners, Agha expressed confidence that they will play a key part in Pakistan’s upcoming Super 8 clash against New Zealand.

Pakistan bounced back strongly after a heavy defeat against India, with Sahibzada Farhan scoring his maiden T20 international century and the spin attack producing a brilliant performance, helping the team secure a spot in the next stage of the tournament.

Team Effort Praised

Agha commented, “It was a fantastic performance by the entire team. We batted well during the powerplay and the middle overs. Farhan has been in good form for some time, and I’m delighted he scored his century.”

Pakistan will begin the Super 8 stage against New Zealand on Saturday at the Premadasa Stadium, Colombo. Speaking ahead of the crucial match, Agha said, “We are playing good cricket. New Zealand is also a strong side, so it should be a good contest. We have spinners and all-rounders who can bat as well.”

Spin Attack in Focus

Agha singled out the spinners for praise, saying, “In Sri Lanka, if you have such quality spinners, you don’t need to worry much about pace bowling.” He also lauded mystery spinner Usman Tariq, who took four wickets for 16 runs, adding, “I’m glad we didn’t have to face him in the match. He is a tricky bowler, and I have faced him in domestic cricket before. Understanding him is not easy, and thankfully he is playing for our team.”

Farhan’s Milestone

‘Player of the Match’ Sahibzada Farhan marked his first T20 international century. He said, “Performing consistently in domestic cricket over the past four years really helped me. This century is the result of hard work in Pakistan’s domestic circuit.”
