
Jaipur & Bengaluru: The Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26 kicked off today with a spectacular display of batting from two of India’s cricketing stalwarts, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. Fans witnessed a thrilling start to India’s premier List-A tournament, which will run until 18 January 2026 with 38 teams participating.
Rohit Sharma’s Explosive Return
After seven years away from domestic cricket, Rohit Sharma made an unforgettable comeback for Mumbai in their Elite Group-C clash against Sikkim at Jaipur’s Sawai Mansingh Stadium. Opening the innings, Rohit smashed a magnificent 155 off 94 balls, including 18 fours and 9 sixes, taking Mumbai to a dominant 237 for 2 in just 30.3 overs, chasing Sikkim’s 236. His innings was marked by a rapid 50 in 27 balls and a century in 62 balls, thrilling the thousands of fans in the stands.
Virat Kohli’s Stunning Performance
Meanwhile, in Bengaluru, Delhi’s star batsman and former India captain Virat Kohli made a remarkable return to the Vijay Hazare Trophy after 15 years. Batting at number three against Andhra Pradesh, Kohli played a masterclass, scoring an unbeaten 108 off 87 balls with 8 fours and 3 sixes. Delhi chased a challenging target of 299, and at 229 for 2 in 28.3 overs, they were well on course under Kohli’s expert guidance. Earlier in the innings, Kohli reached a quick fifty in just 40 balls, showcasing his signature attacking style.
Other Highlights
Delhi’s Nitish Rana also impressed, scoring 66 off 50 balls with 8 boundaries and a six, while Prionsh Arya added 73 off 41 balls. Fans were treated to high-octane cricket from the very start, with both Rohit and Kohli reminding everyone why they remain among India’s finest players in List-A cricket.
