
In a moment of immense pride for the nation, the Indian women’s kabaddi team clinched the Kabaddi World Cup 2025 title, defeating Chinese Taipei 35–28 in a thrilling final. With this victory, India has secured the prestigious trophy for the second consecutive time, reaffirming its dominance on the global kabaddi stage.
Prime Minister and Home Minister Praise the Champions
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his delight over the team’s extraordinary achievement. In a message on X, he wrote:
“Congratulations to our Indian Women’s Kabaddi Team for winning the Kabaddi World Cup 2025 and making the country proud! Their remarkable grit, skill, and dedication are truly inspiring. This victory will motivate countless young athletes.”
Home Minister Amit Shah also extended warm wishes, stating that the triumph reflects the unmatched sporting spirit and talent of Indian women. He praised the team for “creating history” and added that their achievement further highlights India’s growing excellence in global sports.
India Maintains an Unbeaten Run
The tournament featured 11 participating nations, but India remained undefeated throughout. Before the final, the team showcased a dominant performance in the semifinals, defeating a strong Iranian side 33–21. Chinese Taipei entered the final after overcoming hosts Bangladesh in their semifinal clash.
Former India captain Ajay Thakur hailed the victory as a testament to the rising stature and global reach of women’s kabaddi. He noted that the sport has witnessed remarkable growth in recent years.
Former player Manpreet Singh added that this triumph highlights the team’s discipline, confidence, and exceptional teamwork. Earlier in March, the Indian women’s team had already secured the Asian Championship title, making 2025 a landmark year for women’s kabaddi in the country.
