Pakistan Star Cricketer Sahibzada Farhan Mocked by Kamran Akmal for Claiming Ahmed Shehzad Is Better than Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag

Islamabad, January 15, 2026: Pakistani opener Sahibzada Farhan recently made headlines after claiming that Ahmed Shehzad is a better batsman than cricket legends Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag. His statement, however, has sparked widespread ridicule both from former cricketers and fans alike.

Farhan’s comments came in a video that quickly went viral on social media. In it, he placed Shehzad—who has yet to score 1,000 runs in Test cricket—above iconic players like Tendulkar and Sehwag, as well as other renowned batsmen such as Saeed Anwar and Rohit Sharma. The remark has drawn sharp criticism and laughter from the cricket community.

Former Pakistani cricketer Basit Ali described Farhan’s claim as outrageous. Speaking on the YouTube channel The Game Plan, he said, “This video is false—absolutely false. Sahibzada Farhan has not gone mad to place Ahmed Shehzad above Tendulkar. I hope this topic is closed. I promise that whenever I meet Farhan, I will ask him if he was in his right mind that day. Please convey that Basit and Kamran Akmal apologize on his behalf.”

Kamran Akmal also joined in, mocking Farhan’s remarks. “Anyone who has watched this video can’t stop laughing,” Akmal said. “Farhan is a talented cricketer, but saying Ahmed Shehzad is better than Saeed Anwar or Sachin Tendulkar is just not correct. He should have phrased his admiration more carefully. We demand an apology from Sahibzada for this statement.”

Ahmed Shehzad’s career statistics make Farhan’s comparison even more questionable. Over six years, Shehzad played 13 Test matches for Pakistan, scoring 982 runs with three centuries. In One Day Internationals (ODIs), he played 81 matches, scoring 2,605 runs, including six centuries and 14 fifties. In T20 Internationals, he has 1,471 runs from 59 matches with one century and seven fifties. His career has also been marred by controversy, including a ban in 2018 for failing a drug test, after which he never returned to the national team.

Farhan himself has a history of controversies, notably during the 2025 Asia Cup, when he celebrated a fifty against India by mimicking an AK-47 rifle with his bat, leading to an ICC warning. So far, he has played 37 T20 Internationals for Pakistan, scoring 917 runs, including eight fifties.

While Farhan’s intention may have been to highlight his admiration for a teammate, his comparison with some of cricket’s greatest legends has instead become a subject of mockery across Pakistan’s cricketing circles.
