New Delhi/Colombo: In the high-voltage India vs Pakistan T20 World Cup 2026 clash held on 15 February at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, Indian opener Ishan Kishan delivered a breathtaking performance, dismantling Pakistan’s bowling attack and setting a new record in the process. Kishan Breaks Gambhir’s Long-Standing Record

Opening the innings against Pakistan, Ishan Kishan scored a blistering 77 runs off just 40 balls at an astonishing strike rate of 192.50. His innings included 10 fours and 3 sixes, making it the highest-ever score by an Indian opener against Pakistan in T20 cricket.

The previous record was held by India’s current head coach Gautam Gambhir, who scored 75 runs against Pakistan in the 2007 T20 World Cup final. By surpassing Gambhir’s 19-year-old record, Kishan cemented his place in India-Pakistan T20 history.

Winning the toss, Pakistan captain Salman Ali Aga elected to bowl first. India posted a challenging total of 175/7 in their 20 overs, powered by Kishan’s explosive innings.
