New Delhi, December 15, 2025: With the IPL 2026 mini-auction set for December 16 in Abu Dhabi, cricket fans and franchises are eagerly eyeing two overseas all-rounders: Australia’s Cameron Green and England’s Liam Livingstone. Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders, both with deep pockets, are expected to engage in a fierce bidding battle for Green.
Former Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan explained why Cameron Green is in such high demand. “Cameron Green is a top-quality all-rounder who can contribute with both bat and ball. After Andre Russell’s retirement, Green is the ideal replacement. He’ll likely bat higher up the order, and I’m sure CSK will also show strong interest,” Pathan said.
Pathan also highlighted New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell, who could spark another competitive auction scenario. “Mitchell is an exceptional overseas batsman, particularly against spin, which makes him a valuable asset on challenging pitches like those in Chennai. CSK previously spent around ₹14 crore to acquire him, reflecting his quality. He brings both skill and temperament, making him a perfect fit for any franchise,” Pathan added.
Mitchell’s IPL record is impressive: in 13 matches for CSK in IPL 2024, he scored 318 runs at a strike rate of 142, including two half-centuries. In international cricket, he has scored 5 Test centuries and 7 ODI centuries, boasting a stellar ODI batting average of 53 and ranking third in the ODI batting rankings. In T20 Internationals, he has amassed 1,674 runs in 90 matches at an average of 27 with a strike rate of 139.
As franchises prepare to spend big, fans can expect a thrilling auction full of strategic plays and intense bidding for these premium all-rounders.
