IPL 2026 Auction Set to Kick Off in Abu Dhabi: 350 Players to Go Under the Hammer

New Delhi: The IPL 2026 player auction is just around the corner, scheduled for 16 December at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi. This mega event will feature 350 players, with the first batch of six top stars going under the hammer in Set-1, generating high anticipation among franchises and fans alike.

Set-1 Players and Base Prices

The opening set includes:

  • Devon Conway (NZ) – ₹2 crore
  • Jake Fraser-McGurk (AUS) – ₹2 crore
  • Cameron Green (AUS) – ₹2 crore
  • Sarfaraz Khan (IND) – ₹75 lakh
  • David Miller (SA) – ₹2 crore
  • Prithvi Shaw (IND) – ₹75 lakh

All eyes are expected to be on Cameron Green, who has registered only as a batsman this season. After missing last season’s mega auction due to injury, Green’s base price of ₹2 crore positions him as the potential most expensive player of Set-1.

Indian Stars and Key Contenders

Indian openers Prithvi Shaw and Sarfaraz Khan enter the auction with a base price of ₹75 lakh each. Shaw, who went unsold in the previous mega auction, is expected to attract significant bids this time. In contrast, Devon Conway faces some uncertainty due to recent inconsistent form. South African stalwart David Miller is likely to find a strong buyer.

Auction Dynamics

The IPL 2026 auction promises to be highly competitive, with the bidding frenzy for the six Set-1 players setting the tone for the rest of the event. Franchises will watch closely as this first batch could shape strategies for acquiring talent in the subsequent sets.

With 350 players in the fray and several marquee names in Set-1, the IPL 2026 auction is shaping up to be one of the most exciting and closely watched in recent years.
