India vs South Africa: Key Changes Expected in Playing XI for Decisive 3rd ODI

Visakhapatnam: The third and final ODI between India and South Africa at Visakhapatnam promises to be a do-or-die contest, with the series currently tied 1-1. After India won the first ODI convincingly, South Africa bounced back in the second match, chasing a massive 359-run target. With the series evenly poised, the Indian team is likely to make strategic adjustments ahead of the series decider.

Prasidh Krishna Set to be Dropped
Pace bowler Prasidh Krishna struggled in the second ODI, conceding 85 runs in 8.2 overs, resulting in an economy rate above 10. His performances in the first two matches have also been below expectations. Consequently, the team management is expected to bench Krishna for the third ODI.

All-Rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy to Make Entry
Replacing Krishna could allow all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy to join the playing XI. Known for his capability in the death overs, Reddy’s inclusion adds depth to India’s batting lineup—a crucial advantage on the batting-friendly Visakhapatnam pitch. His presence could also provide balance in both batting and bowling departments, helping India stabilize after encountering challenges in finishing innings in the previous matches.

Bowling Lineup Adjustments
With Krishna out, India’s bowling attack may feature Harshit Rana, Arshdeep Singh, Kuldeep Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja, Washington Sundar, and Nitish Kumar Reddy as the sixth bowling option. This adjustment gives India a versatile bowling unit capable of handling various match situations.

Probable Playing XI for India – 3rd ODI:
Rohit Sharma, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Washington Sundar, KL Rahul (Captain & Wicketkeeper), Nitish Kumar Reddy, Ravindra Jadeja, Harshit Rana, Kuldeep Yadav, Arshdeep Singh

With these strategic changes, Team India aims to regain momentum and secure the series against a confident South African side.
