New Delhi:
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the Indian women’s squad for the one-off Test match against Australia, scheduled to be played from March 6 to 9, 2026, at the Perth Stadium. The Test match is part of a high-profile multi-format series that also includes three T20 Internationals and three One-Day Internationals.
Experienced all-rounder Harmanpreet Kaur will lead the Indian side, while Smriti Mandhana has been named vice-captain. The squad features a strong blend of experience and youth, underlining India’s intent to challenge the formidable Australian team in the longest format of the game.
The team includes key players such as Shafali Verma, Jemimah Rodrigues, Richa Ghosh, Harleen Deol, Deepti Sharma, Renuka Singh Thakur and Sneha Rana, providing depth in both batting and bowling departments. Young wicketkeepers Richa Ghosh and Uma Chetry have also been included, reflecting the selectors’ focus on building bench strength for the future.
The Test series is being seen as a significant milestone for Indian women’s cricket, as opportunities in the red-ball format remain limited. Facing Australia in their home conditions will be a stern test, but the Indian camp remains confident under Harmanpreet Kaur’s leadership.
