New Delhi: The much-awaited India vs Pakistan clash in the T20 World Cup 2026 has become the biggest talking point in world cricket, with fans eagerly counting down to the blockbuster contest. Ahead of the mega encounter, former India women’s team captain and renowned commentator Anjum Chopra has offered a key piece of advice to Team India, while also pointing out the one major advantage Pakistan holds going into the match.
India may look well-prepared and stronger on paper, but Chopra believes the match could still pose challenges due to differing match conditions.
Pakistan Enjoys Conditions Advantage in Sri Lanka
In an exclusive interaction, Anjum Chopra noted that Pakistan have been playing in Sri Lanka for the past two weeks and are already well-adjusted to local conditions. In contrast, India have played all their matches so far in India, which could leave them with limited time to adapt to the Sri Lankan pitch and weather ahead of the crucial match in Colombo.
“Pakistan have been in Colombo for the last few days and have already played two matches there. We knew beforehand that Pakistan would have the advantage of staying there,” Chopra said.
She added that while India cannot change that factor now, the team must ensure they make full use of the limited time available before the match.
‘India Must Adapt Quickly Within 48 Hours’
Chopra emphasized that India must focus on adjusting to the pitch conditions as quickly as possible.
“Whatever 48 hours India has, they must adapt themselves to the conditions immediately. In T20 cricket, anything can happen,” she stated.
While Chopra expressed confidence in India’s overall strength, she made it clear that overconfidence could prove costly in the shortest format of the game.
No Worries Over Abhishek Sharma’s Absence
Anjum Chopra also dismissed concerns regarding India’s playing XI, particularly the possibility of opener Abhishek Sharma missing out. She believes that Sanju Samson is more than capable of stepping in.
“I am not worried at all. Abhishek will be the first choice in the eleven, but if he is not available, then Sanju should play. Sanju is not an ordinary player,” Chopra said.
Sanju Samson featured in his first T20 World Cup match against Namibia, scoring a quick 22 off just 8 balls, showing glimpses of his aggressive ability.
All Eyes on the Mega Clash
With both teams carrying massive expectations and the stakes extremely high, the India-Pakistan encounter promises to be a thrilling contest. While India remain favourites, Pakistan’s familiarity with Colombo conditions could play a crucial role, making the upcoming match even more unpredictable.
