IND vs NED Highlights: Netherlands Puts Up a Fight, India Wins by 17 Runs

Ahmedabad: India secured a hard-fought victory over the Netherlands in their final group match of the T20 World Cup 2026 at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad, winning by 17 runs.

After winning the toss, India batted first and posted a competitive total of 193 for 6 wickets. In response, the Netherlands put up a determined fight but could manage only 176 for 7. With this win, India remained unbeaten in Group A, topping the table, while the Netherlands managed just one victory. India now boasts an unbeaten streak in 12 T20 World Cup matches.

Abhishek Sharma Struggles

India suffered an early blow as Abhishek Sharma was dismissed on the third ball of the innings, failing to open his account for the third consecutive match in this tournament. Ishan Kishan and Tilak Varma stitched together a 39-run partnership for the second wicket in 23 balls. Ishan faced just 7 balls to score 18 runs, while Tilak added 31 runs off 4 boundaries in a 30-run partnership with captain Suryakumar Yadav for the third wicket.

Shivam Dubey’s Blitzkrieg

India slipped to 69 for 3 before Suryakumar Yadav and Shivam Dubey added 41 runs for the fourth wicket in 27 balls, taking the total to 110. Yadav scored 34 runs off 28 balls before getting out. Shivam Dubey then joined Hardik Pandya to put on a 76-run partnership for the fifth wicket in 35 balls. Dubey’s explosive innings of 66 runs came off just 25 balls, including 6 sixes and 4 fours. Pandya contributed 30 runs off 21 balls. Logan van Beek picked up 3 wickets, while Aryan Dutt took 2.

Netherlands’ Fightback

Chasing 194, the Netherlands made a slow start, scoring only 36 runs in the powerplay and losing opener Max O’Dod for 20. The middle overs saw the batters struggle against Varun Chakravarthy but accelerate against the other bowlers. Hardik Pandya dismissed the other opener Michael Levitt for 24. Bas de Leede and Colin Ackermann added 49 runs in just 26 balls, before Chakravarthy struck twice in consecutive balls to remove Ackermann and Aryan Dutt. Captain Scott Edwards managed to stop a hat-trick.

By the 16th over, the Netherlands were 125 for 6. Leede scored 33 off 23 balls before falling to Shivam Dubey, and Jasprit Bumrah bowled out Edwards for 15. Noah Cross and Jack Lyon Cashet added 47 runs in 23 balls but couldn’t take the game away from India. Varun Chakravarthy finished with three wickets, and Shivam Dubey took two.
