The ICC U19 World Cup has always offered a glimpse of cricket’s future stars—players who may one day replace today’s legends. This year is no different. As the U19 World Cup 2026 kicks off, hosted jointly by Zimbabwe and Namibia, the spotlight is on a new generation of young talents ready to make their mark. From 14-year-old prodigy Vaibhav Sooryavanshi to Pakistan’s Sameer Minhas, here are five players expected to capture global attention.

1. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi – Already proving himself at 14
Left-handed opener Vaibhav Sooryavanshi carries the responsibility of opening the innings for India’s U19 team. At just 14, he has already made headlines in junior and senior cricket alike. Highlights include a record-breaking 32-ball century at the Asia Cup Rising Stars, a 176-run innings in the U19 Asia Cup, and a stunning 190 off 84 balls in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. The U19 World Cup will offer a preview of Vaibhav’s adaptability and ability to shape his game according to team needs.

2. Ayush Mhatre – Displaying immense talent
Indian U19 captain Ayush Mhatre is already familiar to cricket fans. In IPL 2025, he seized an opportunity when Ruturaj Gaikwad was sidelined due to injury, scoring 240 runs, including a 94-run innings. His stellar performances continued with 181 runs off 117 balls in the 2024-25 Vijay Hazare Trophy and explosive knocks in the 2025 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, cementing his reputation as a future star.

3. Sameer Minhas – Pakistan’s big-hitting sensation
Pakistan’s Sameer Minhas has drawn attention for his ability to play big innings. During the U19 Asia Cup, he scored a sensational 172 against India and amassed 471 runs in five innings, including two centuries and a fifty—almost 200 runs more than any other batsman. Minhas has already declared his aim for the U19 World Cup: to become the player of the tournament.

4. Oliver PK – Australia’s captain with a record to follow
Oliver PK, representing Australia, could have been included in the Future Stars list two years ago but missed the U19 World Cup 2024 winning team due to injury. Now, as captain, he comes with an impressive domestic record, including standout performances in the BBL 2025-26 for Melbourne Renegades. The Victorian batter is expected to be a key figure for Australia in the tournament.

5. Farhan Ahmed – England’s teenage marvel
England’s Farhan Ahmed, younger brother of senior player Rehan Ahmed, debuted in county cricket at just 16, becoming the second youngest player in its history. His real breakthrough came in 2024 when he became the youngest bowler to take a 10-wicket haul in first-class cricket, breaking WG Grace’s record from 1865. Farhan is making his second U19 World Cup appearance and captains England this year, having been the second-highest wicket-taker in the 2024 edition.

The ICC U19 World Cup 2026 promises a thrilling showcase of future global cricket stars, with these five players poised to leave a lasting impression.
