
Mumbai: The International Cricket Council has unveiled the list of match officials for the Super 8 stage of the T20 World Cup 2026, assigning some of the most experienced umpires to high-profile clashes.
India vs South Africa: Experienced Hands in Charge
For the crucial Super 8 encounter between India and South Africa in Ahmedabad on Sunday, England’s Richard Kettleborough and New Zealand’s Chris Gaffaney will serve as on-field umpires.
England’s Alex Wharf has been appointed as the third umpire, while New Zealand’s Chris Brown will take up fourth umpire duties.
Pakistan vs New Zealand Opener in Colombo
The Super 8 stage begins Saturday in Colombo with Pakistan taking on New Zealand. Australia’s Rod Tucker and Paul Reiffel will officiate on the field. South Africa’s Allahudien Paleker has been named the TV umpire, while Australia’s Sam Nogajski will act as fourth umpire.
Nogajski and Tucker are also scheduled to officiate the Sri Lanka vs Pakistan fixture in Kandy on February 28.
Nitin Menon to Officiate England vs Pakistan
India’s elite umpire Nitin Menon will be on-field for the February 24 match between England and Pakistan in Kandy, alongside Sam Nogajski.
Meanwhile, Adrian Holdstock and Ahsan Raza have been appointed for Sri Lanka vs England (February 23) and England vs New Zealand (February 27).
Other Key Appointments
For Sri Lanka vs New Zealand in Colombo on February 25, Paleker and Asif Yaqoob will officiate.
India’s final Super 8 fixture against West Indies in Kolkata on March 1 will be handled by Gaffaney and Wharf. Wharf will also officiate alongside Kettleborough in the February 26 match involving the co-hosts and Zimbabwe.
The Zimbabwe vs West Indies clash in Mumbai on February 23 will see Richard Illingworth and Jayarman Madanagopal in charge.
For the February 26 contest between West Indies and South Africa, Shahid Saikat and Kumar Dharmasena will be the on-field officials. Dharmasena will again officiate on March 1 alongside Illingworth in the South Africa vs Zimbabwe match.
Match Referees Panel
The Super 8 stage will feature seasoned match referees, including Ranjan Madugalle, Andrew Pycroft, Richie Richardson, and Javagal Srinath.
With high-stakes matches lined up and experienced officials at the helm, the Super 8 stage promises both competitive cricket and disciplined oversight as teams battle for semifinal spots.
