Heated Clash at Ranji Trophy Final: Jammu & Kashmir Captain Strikes Karnataka Player

Hubballi: The Ranji Trophy Elite 2025-26 final between Jammu & Kashmir and Karnataka at the KSCA Hubballi Cricket Ground turned tense on the second day, as an on-field altercation drew widespread attention.

During the 101st over of Jammu & Kashmir’s innings, bowled by Karnataka’s Prasidh Krishna, a ball edged by J&K captain Paras Dogra went for a boundary. A brief exchange of words ensued between Dogra and substitute fielder KV Aneesh, who was positioned at forward short leg. The situation escalated when Dogra struck Aneesh on the head, leading to immediate chaos on the field.

Experienced players, including Mayank Agarwal, intervened to calm the situation, while umpires and Karnataka captain Devdutt Padikkal stepped in to manage tensions. Dogra later apologized to Aneesh, though the Karnataka player did not accept the apology. The incident was captured on video and quickly went viral on social media.

On the cricketing front, Jammu & Kashmir opted to bat first after winning the toss. By the time this report was filed, they had scored 469 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in 142 overs. Paras Dogra remained unbeaten on 69, Shubham Pundir scored a stellar 121, while Sahil Lotra added 26 runs. For Karnataka, Prasidh Krishna emerged as the leading bowler, taking three wickets.

The on-field clash overshadowed what has been an otherwise competitive final, drawing attention not only from cricket fans but also on social media platforms nationwide.
