Hardik Pandya Set for Comeback: To Feature in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy Before South Africa Series

India’s star all-rounder Hardik Pandya is all set to make his much-awaited return to competitive cricket later this month. The Baroda captain will represent his home state in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, marking his comeback ahead of the upcoming series against South Africa.

Pandya, who has been undergoing intense rehabilitation at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru, is said to be nearing full match fitness. If all goes as planned, he is expected to feature in Baroda’s opening match in Hyderabad on November 26. In the worst-case scenario, Pandya will be back in action by the team’s second game.

Sources confirmed that Hardik will not take any additional rest and will join his team immediately after receiving the official ‘Return to Play’ (RTP) clearance from the BCCI.

The 32-year-old cricketer has been out of action since the Asia Cup, where he sustained a left quadriceps injury during the match against Sri Lanka. The setback forced him to miss the high-voltage final against Pakistan as well as the subsequent ODI and T20I series against Australia.

However, after weeks of rigorous training, Hardik Pandya is now poised to don the Indian jersey once again for the South Africa tour, which begins with a three-match ODI series on November 30, December 3, and December 6 in Ranchi, Raipur, and Visakhapatnam respectively.

Following the ODIs, India will shift focus to the five-match T20I series, starting December 9 in Cuttack. With his return, Team India will be hoping for renewed balance and energy in both batting and bowling departments — something only Hardik Pandya can deliver.
