The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 season is just around the corner, and fans are eagerly anticipating the action. Adding to the excitement, cricket legend MS Dhoni has officially begun practice for the upcoming season.
Dhoni Returns to the Nets
The Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) shared a video on their official Instagram handle showing Dhoni putting on his yellow pads and holding his bat while interacting with someone off-camera. The caption read: “Look who’s back – the pride of JSCA, Mahendra Singh Dhoni.”
Chennai Super Kings Eye Sixth Title
IPL 2026 will see Chennai Super Kings (CSK) competing for their sixth IPL title. After a disappointing previous season, where CSK won only 4 out of 14 matches and finished at the bottom of the points table, the team will look to bounce back under Dhoni’s leadership. Last season, Dhoni played 13 innings, scoring 196 runs at an average of 24.50 and a strike rate of 135.17. Following Ruturaj Gaikwad’s injury, Dhoni once again captained the side.
Dhoni’s IPL Legacy
At 44, MS Dhoni has been a cornerstone of the IPL since its inception in 2008. Over 278 matches and 242 innings, he has scored 5,439 runs at a strike rate of 137.45, including 24 fifties, with his highest IPL score being an unbeaten 84. With Sanju Samson now part of CSK, Dhoni may take on a more impact player role in IPL 2026, bringing experience and finishing prowess to the squad.
Fans can expect Dhoni’s signature calm and game-changing abilities to shine once again as CSK aims for glory in the upcoming season.
