New Delhi: Bihar’s young cricket prodigy Vaibhav Suryavanshi has been honored with the Prime Minister’s National Child Award for his exceptional achievements in sports. The prestigious award was presented to him by President Droupadi Murmu at a grand ceremony in New Delhi, where Vaibhav also had the opportunity to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Nation’s Highest Recognition for Young Athletes
The award, given by the Government of India to children aged 5–18 for outstanding courage, talent, and achievements, recognized Vaibhav in the sports category. The ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan highlighted Vaibhav’s dedication, sportsmanship, and extraordinary talent. Post the award ceremony, Prime Minister Modi interacted with Vaibhav and other awardees, motivating them to continue bringing glory to the nation.
A Tough Choice Amid Vijay Hazare Trophy
Receiving this prestigious award required Vaibhav to make a difficult decision. Despite being in excellent form in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy, he had to skip the remaining matches to attend the ceremony in Delhi. While stepping away from the cricket field is never easy for a young athlete, the national recognition is a landmark achievement in his career.
Record-Breaking Performance
Vaibhav earned this honor due to his recent spectacular performance in domestic cricket. In the Vijay Hazare Trophy, he scored a blazing 190 runs off just 84 balls against Arunachal Pradesh, an innings that stunned the cricketing world. Such a massive score at a young age is an exceptionally rare feat in Indian domestic cricket, earning appreciation from the Government of India.
At just 14, Vaibhav Suryavanshi is already making headlines both on the field and on the national stage, setting an inspiring example for young athletes across the country.
