After going unsold in last year’s IPL auction, Tejasvi Singh Dahiya has made a remarkable comeback, earning a spot in the Kolkata Knight Riders squad for IPL 2026 at a whopping ₹3 crore—ten times his base price of ₹30 lakh. His acquisition sparked intense bidding among Mumbai Indians, KKR, and Rajasthan Royals, highlighting the young wicketkeeper-batsman’s growing reputation.
Rigorous Training in the Jungle Gurukul
Tejasvi’s journey to IPL stardom is a testament to hard work and discipline. Under the guidance of Dronacharya awardee coach Sanjay Bhardwaj—who has trained legends like Gautam Gambhir and Amit Mishra—Tejasvi spent last year in a remote jungle-based cricket gurukul near Bhopal. Here, strict routines were enforced: mobile phones were confiscated, and players could only talk to family for one hour a day. Tejasvi believes that achieving greatness requires sacrifice, dedication, and focus.
DPL Sixer King
Tejasvi earned his nickname “Sixer King” during the Delhi Premier League (DPL), smashing 339 runs at a striking 190.44 strike rate and hitting 29 sixes—the most in the tournament. Coach Bhardwaj praised his natural talent, calling him a “diamond” from the first time he saw him bat. His wicketkeeping skills and cricketing acumen also received high accolades, making him a valuable asset for KKR.
From a Teacher’s Home to the IPL Stage
Coming from a family of educators—father Ravindra Singh Dahiya, a mathematics teacher, and mother Babita Dahiya, an economics teacher—Tejasvi has balanced academics and sport with discipline. The young cricketer idolizes Virender Sehwag, MS Dhoni, and Virat Kohli and aims to emulate Gautam Gambhir’s legacy for KKR. “We are from Delhi, and we play with heart,” he says proudly, ready to make his mark on cricket’s grandest stage.
