New Delhi, January 20, 2026: At just 16 years and 103 days old, Deeya Yadav made history by becoming the youngest player to debut in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026. She replaced Minnu Mani in Delhi Capitals’ playing XI for the 18th match of the tournament held at BCA Kotambi Stadium, Vadodara.

This remarkable feat broke the previous record held by G Kamalini, who had debuted in 2025 at 16 years and 213 days old. Other youngest debutants in WPL history include Shabnam Shakeel (16 years, 263 days), Parshvi Chopra (16 years, 312 days), and Alice Capps (18 years, 205 days).

A Rising Star from Haryana
Hailing from Haryana, Deeya Yadav was signed by Delhi Capitals in the WPL auction for ₹10 lakh. She had a stellar domestic season, scoring nearly 300 runs in eight innings during the 2025-26 Senior Women’s T20 Trophy at a strike rate of around 130. Her consistent performances drew attention from multiple franchise talent scouts.

Impressive Domestic Record
Deeya also impressed while representing North Zone in the Senior Inter-Zonal T20 Tournament, scoring over 150 runs and playing a key role in leading her team to the final. Nicknamed the “Little Shafali,” she looks up to Indian cricket star Shafali Verma as her role model.
