CSK’s Uncapped All-Rounder Ramakrishna Ghosh Stuns with 7-Wicket Haul in Vijay Hazare Trophy

Jaipur: Chennai Super Kings’ uncapped all-rounder Ramakrishna Ghosh has announced himself on the big stage with a sensational bowling performance in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Representing Maharashtra against Himachal Pradesh at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Ghosh claimed 7 wickets for just 42 runs in 9.4 overs, marking the best bowling spell by any Maharashtra bowler in the tournament’s history. The previous record was held by Dominic Muthuswami, who had taken 6 wickets for 25 runs against Mumbai in 2014.

CSK’s Strategic Retention Pays Off
CSK retained 16 players ahead of IPL 2026, including Ghosh, who was bought for ₹30 lakh in the IPL 2025 auction but did not get a single match opportunity that season. His stellar domestic performance now justifies CSK’s faith in him and highlights why the franchise chose to retain him for the upcoming season.

Bowling Brilliance
This is only the 12th instance in Vijay Hazare Trophy history where a bowler has taken 7 or more wickets in a match. Notably, Shahbaz Nadeem and Arpit Guleria have previously claimed 8 wickets in a game. Ghosh’s left-arm spin wreaked havoc on Himachal’s batting line-up, giving Maharashtra a decisive edge in the match.

All-Round Impact
The 28-year-old Ghosh is no less with the bat. Earlier in the tournament, he scored a brilliant 73-run innings against Punjab, making it his seventh List A match. Across six matches so far, he has accumulated 10 wickets and 112 runs, proving his value as a genuine all-rounder.

Prashant Veer Shines with the Bat
Another CSK recruit, Prashant Veer, purchased for ₹14 crore, showcased his finishing abilities against Baroda. Veer struck 35 runs off 23 balls, including 3 fours and 2 sixes, demonstrating his potential as a match-winning finisher for CSK in the upcoming IPL season.
