Chennai: With an eye on winning their sixth IPL title, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are preparing to strengthen their squad in the IPL 2026 auction. After finishing at the bottom of the points table last season, CSK now has a purse of ₹43.40 crore to spend on acquiring top talent. The franchise is particularly focused on filling the gap left by Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran, who have been released ahead of the auction.
Top Players on CSK’s Radar
- Liam Livingstone – The England all-rounder, who has previously played for Rajasthan Royals, Punjab Kings, and RCB, is likely to be a major target for CSK. Known for his explosive finishing and useful bowling, Livingstone could be a key asset in the CSK lineup.
- Venkatesh Iyer – The versatile Indian all-rounder can open the innings, bat in the middle order, and contribute with his bowling, making him an ideal pick for the franchise.
- Mathisha Pathirana – Although released before the auction, Pathirana could make a return to CSK. He has played 32 IPL matches, taking 47 wickets since his debut in 2022 and is a proven performer for the team.
- Cameron Green – The Australian all-rounder is expected to be one of the most sought-after players in the IPL 2026 auction. In 29 IPL matches, Green has scored 707 runs and taken 16 wickets, showcasing his ability to contribute in all departments.
- Wanindu Hasaranga – With Jadeja traded to RR, CSK is keen on acquiring a spin-bowling all-rounder. Sri Lanka’s Hasaranga, known for his match-winning performances with both bat and ball, fits the role perfectly and is expected to thrive on Chepauk’s spin-friendly pitches.
With these strategic targets, CSK aims to build a balanced and powerful squad capable of reclaiming the IPL crown in 2026.
