Cricket Schedule Announced for Asian Games 2026: Matches to Begin on September 17

The schedule for the cricket tournament at the 2026 Asian Games has been officially announced. The Games will be held in Japan, with cricket matches set to begin on September 17. India had a stellar performance in the previous edition in 2023, winning gold medals in both the men’s and women’s cricket events in Hangzhou, China.

According to information released by Olympic.com, the 2026 Asian Games cricket tournament will run from 17 September to 3 October, featuring the T20 format. All matches will be played at the Korogi Athletic Park in Achi Prefecture.

Women’s Tournament:
The women’s cricket event will commence on September 17, with medal matches scheduled to start on September 22. A total of eight teams will participate, with defending champions India entering directly into the quarter-finals.

Men’s Tournament:
The men’s cricket event will begin on September 24, with medal matches starting on October 3. Ten teams will compete, with all match days featuring doubleheaders. In the previous edition in 2023, India’s young men’s team, featuring players like Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rinku Singh, and Jitesh Sharma, delivered an exceptional performance, bringing home the gold medal. The Indian women’s team also retained their gold medal in 2023.

With both men’s and women’s teams entering the 2026 Asian Games as defending champions, India will once again be a strong favorite to clinch the gold in cricket.
