Adelaide: Australian opener Travis Head has continued his sublime form by scoring a century in the second innings of the third Ashes Test against England. Playing at Adelaide Oval, Head reached his 11th Test century off 146 balls, marking his fourth consecutive century at this venue. He had previously scored hundreds against West Indies in 2022 and 2024, and against India in last year’s day-night Test.
Joining Cricketing Legends
With this feat, Head has become only the fifth batsman in Australian cricket history to score centuries in four consecutive matches at a single home ground. He joins legends such as Sir Don Bradman, Wally Hammond, Michael Clarke, and Steve Smith in this elite club. Clarke’s streak came at Adelaide between 2012 and 2014, while Smith achieved the feat at Melbourne from 2014 to 2017.
Australia Extends Lead Beyond 350
By the close of day three, Australia had reached 271/4 in their second innings, with Travis Head unbeaten on 142 off 196 balls, including 13 fours and 2 sixes. Alex Carey, who also scored a century in the first innings (52), has added a quick fifty, contributing to a 122-run partnership for the fifth wicket.
Earlier, England’s first innings had ended at 286, with captain Ben Stokes top-scoring with 83. Jofra Archer, batting at number 10, added a valuable 51, forming a 106-run ninth-wicket partnership with Stokes. Australia had posted 371 in their first innings and currently lead the five-match series 2-0.
Given Australia’s dominant position and Head’s continued brilliance, England faces an uphill battle, making it extremely unlikely they can salvage the match or the series.
